Committees

Development/ Scholarships

The Development and Scholarship Committee will have two primary focuses.

The first will be to ensure that the Educational Foundation offers programs and services that are relevant and that continuously help today's students. In doing so, this committee will evaluate current programs that the Foundation offers, and give guidance to the board on how to modify programs to ensure their success.

The second priority of this committee will be to seek out non-traditional scholarships that can be offered to graduates of the mentorship / internship program. With students' interests ever changing, this committee will look for new opportunities for scholarships.

Career Development

This Committee will work directly with students to make sure they are prepared to take on the challenges they will face during their work experiences. Prior to beginning a mentorship or internship, every student will be required to participate in two sessions with members of the career development committee to learn resume writing skills, and interview skills.

This committee will also help students along the way with any career questions they may have. Being the Foundation's direct link to the students, the Career Development Committee will coach both students and the Foundation to success in the future.

Finance

The Finance Committee will make sure SDNEF stays on track with their financial goals. In addition to monitoring the financial situation for the foundation, the Finance committee will also be responsible for growing the scholarship pool; making it possible to offer more scholarships every year.

Finally, the Finance Committee will ensure that all the Foundation's funding is in compliance with the organization's by-laws.

Fundraising

In order to provide younger generations with innovative programs through SDNEF, the Fundraising Committee will coordinate a variety of fundraisers, grants, and partnerships to develop the Foundation and its programs. This committee represents a key component for the Foundation.

This committee will do much to ensure the sustainability of the organization, and the programs and services it offers.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Committee has two primary missions. This committee will serve as the bridge between businesses, educational institutions, and the community.

The main focus of this committee will be to connect with businesses in the community, establishing strong relationships with mentors and employers in every industry.

The second task of this committee will be to reach out to the many high schools and colleges in the area to promote the programs to students and career centers.
