The San Diego North Educational Foundation is seeking interested high school and college students to participate in its mentorship/internship program.

“Students who participate will have the opportunity to preview different industries and develop interests as they progress through their academic careers,” said President and CEO, Debra Rosen. “It doesn’t matter if they want to be a lawyer or a construction worker; the Foundation supports every pursuit and will help pair students with internships that they find interesting.”

The Foundation is also accepting applications from interested businesses in the area to become a SDNEF intern employer. Businesses would have the opportunity to mentor and coach high school and college student interns, showing them different career paths and opportunities.

Businesses who participate will be guiding the future of San Diego business leaders and developing interests in San Diego industries.

The mentorship/internship program is aimed to develop social and career skills for students, as well as foster interests in career paths at an early age. The Foundation helps local San Diego students not only develop interests, but also provides a path for them to pursue.

“The number of students who graduate college and still have no idea what they want to do is astonishing,” stated Dr. Tanis Starck, Director of Intercultural Relations at SDSU. “We hope to change that dynamic so that students are genuinely interested and motivated to pursue their goals.”

The fall program will be limited to the first 20 approved applicants for the first term, and expand each term after that. Interested businesses and students can call foundation coordinator Matt Sanford at 858.487.1767 or visit www.sdnef.org for more information.
