The San Diego North Educational Foundation is up and running, providing programs to help high school and college students get a jump-start on the working world.
“SDNEF will have a tremendous impact on the region, pairing students with businesses and providing mentorships and internships to local high school and college goers,” stated SDNEF President and CEO, Debra Rosen. “Giving students a preview into the working world and into different industries will help them develop an interest and a path to follow.”
“Today, too many students graduate with little knowledge about the multitude of possibilities for them. It is our goal to give them that insight at an early age, “said SDNEF Chair of the Board, Alicia Gwynn. “We want to encourage students to find a career path they truly want to follow, not just go through the motions.”

“This is an opportunity for businesses to coach today’s young people and guide them to different careers; it goes way beyond a typical internship,” continued Rosen.
After a major fundraiser June 28, at which the San Diego Padres, Fidelity and former Padres Owner, Becky Moores became partners, SDNEF was able to put programming into motion.
The Foundation will partner 20 local students with businesses in time for the Fall Semester. Each participating student will be able to put their best foot forward after attending the two classes through the Foundation to help them with resume writing and interviewing.
“The thing that differentiates us from the normal education track is that this Foundation invests in those students who may not go to a four year university but who still have a future and an interest,” said Gwynn.
Dedicated to supporting students in every endeavor, the Board and Staff of the Foundation constantly strive to provide every opportunity for high school juniors and seniors, and college students.
